Christian Eriksen has reportedly been handed another shot at Premier League football after turning down Wrexham’s bold approach.
Burnley eye Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen’s summer of uncertainty could be coming to an end with Burnley ready to pounce. The midfielder parted ways with Manchester United when his contract ran out this summer. He has been weighing his options for weeks.
Meanwhile, Wrexham’s two-year vision to climb into the PL caught headlines. But, the Dane declined, preferring to keep his boots on England’s biggest stage. Scott Parker‘s Clarets have been newly promoted to the PL. They view Eriksen as a perfect mix of skill and experience to help them avoid a Championship return.
The playmaker has vision in passing and calmness under pressure. He may well be exactly the what is needed by a squad still settling into life back in the top-flight. Burnley have already made moves to reinforce their midfield. They snapped up Chelsea’s Lesley Ugochukwu in a deal worth over £20m. But, adding a proven pl creator could be the game-changer.
Midfielder chooses top flight over other offers
Interest in Eriksen hasn’t been in short supply. Clubs from Turkey, the US and Saudi Arabia have made their pitch. Although, the former Tottenham star remains clear on his stance. He sees Western Europe and top-tier competition as his priority.
His agent, Martin Schoots, has confirmed last month that Eriksen is not ready to step down from the highest level yet. The Dane played 31 times in last year’s PL. He provided one goal and two assists to show there is still plenty left in the tank.
Burnley’s offer could tick every box for the midfielder. He will get competitive football, a high role and an opportunity to guide budding talent. He can simply lead through his example. For Parker, landing a player like Eriksen would send a strong message to the rest of the league.
With the transfer window still open, this could be one of the most surprising signings of the summer.
