West Ham are reportedly closing in on a deal for FC Metz striker Idrissa Gueye.
Graham Potter is in desperate need of attacking recruits after losing veteran forward Michail Antonio.
Niclas Fullkrug and Callum Wilson are currently the only strikers at Potter’s disposal ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
That needs to be resolved before the season starts, and it appears that it may be after a new update emerged.

A report from WiW Sports (8 August) claims that the Hammers have agreed personal terms with Gueye.
It also states that the deal with the French outfit is in the final stages, and the signing could be confirmed imminently.
The Senegalese striker has been compared to Oliver Giroud by Metz’s sporting director Frédéric Arpinon, who told Lesoleil (20 January): “I was lucky enough, a long time ago, to meet [Olivier] Giroud (in Istres, in 2007-2008). And he reminds me a little of him.
“I hope for him that he will have the same trajectory.”
Who is potential new West Ham star Idrissa Gueye?
Gueye is an 18-year-old Senegalese striker who started his career at the famous Generation Foot in his home country.
He secured a move to France with Ligue 2 side Metz in January.
He was named Ligue 2 Young Player of the Month and Metz’s Player of the Month for February, to continue his remarkable rise to stardom.
He notched six goals and one assist in 18 appearances for Les Grenats, helping them to secure promotion to Ligue 1 through the playoffs.
Now, he looks set to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Sadio Mane, Pape Matar Sarr and Ismaila Sarr, who have all taken the route from Generation Foot to Metz to the English top-flight.
Mane: Generation Foot > Metz > Red Bull Salzburg > Southampton > Liverpool
Pape Sarr: Generation Foot > Metz > Tottenham
Ismaila Sarr: Generation Foot > Metz > Rennes > Watford > Marseille > Crystal Palace
Given how those three have performed at the elite level, Hammers supporters should be encouraged if they sign Gueye.
David Sullivan, who is in charge of the Hammers’ transfers, may end up with a lot of credit if he can pull off a deal and the young star ends up thriving in East London.
