Man United player fuming after being left out of Ruben Amorim’s six-man leadership group -…

One Manchester United star was reportedly left 'frustrated' after being left out of Ruben Amorim's six-person leadership group. It was revealed at the beginning of August that the United coach had chosen six senior players to head up the group, with club captain Bruno Fernandes at the forefront.

Fellow Portuguese star Diogo Dalot has also been included, as has former skipper Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui. The currently injured Lisandro Martinez and back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton - who has only made three appearances for the club - round out the leadership panel, meaning there is no place for the club's longest-serving player, who is said to be upset by his exclusion.

Luke Shaw Upset to be Left Out of Leadership Group

Luke Shaw in action for Manchester United

According to an update from The Sun, Luke Shaw is the player in question who has been left frustrated by Amorim's decision to omit him from the group. The England international joined the club in 2014, making him the longest-serving active player at Old Trafford.

Shaw has not been afraid to speak out against his teammates in recent months, launching scathing criticism following the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May. The full-back openly admitted that both himself and his other teammates had to look in the mirror and question whether or not they were good enough to be at the club after what was one of their worst ever seasons, which saw them finish 15th in the Premier League.

Yet despite this, his longevity, and the fact he seemed to return to pre-season in incredible shape, the defender was left out of the leadership contingent.

It was even claimed that Shaw was so furious that it had an impact on his training sessions, with the 30-year-old deemed to not have given 100% after finding out. To make matters worse, 19-year-old Leny Yoro, who only joined the club last summer, was also considered as a potential inclusion, with Amorim seeing him as the pillar of United's defence for years to come. However, he ended up opting against adding the Frenchman for the time being.

Despite having been at the club for over a decade, Shaw struggled for game time last season, both before and after Amorim's arrival, due to injury. The full-back missed the back end of the 2023/24 campaign due to a hamstring injury, but rushed himself back so that he could play a role in England's European Championship campaign.

That appeared to set him back though, as he would pick up multiple injuries upon returning to Carrington, spending a total of 294 days on the sidelines last term. As a result, he made just 12 appearances in all competitions, all of which came under Amorim's stewardship. He has, however, appeared in every United pre-season game ahead of the 2025/26 season.
