Everton and Manchester City will arguably have to come to some sort of compromise on Jack Grealish’s wages.

The 29-year-old is clearly out of Pep Guardiola’s plans for the upcoming campaign, and it would make sense for the Cityzens to get him off their books.

Grealish is wanted at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with The Friedkin Group (TFG) hoping to make a statement signing before the end of August.

David Moyes admires the Man City star, but the Blues may have to reconsider their approach due to the finances involved.

Everton may find half of Grealish’s wages too much

Gabby Agbonlahor doesn’t think Man City are going to be helpful to let the Toffees sign Grealish.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The former Aston Villa striker believes even if the Cityzens demand only half of the England international’s wages for a loan move this summer, that may still be a lot for the Toffees.

With two years left on the 29-year-old’s contract at the Etihad Stadium, the Sky Blues could potentially have to eventually reduce their demands for the forward as Deadline Day approaches, but it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit can afford him.

Speaking on talkSPORT (8 August), Agbonlahor said: “I’m sure Man City aren’t going to be helpful in this situation. They’re going to want full wages paid… I don’t know the figures. Man City are probably saying you have to pay half. But maybe a club like Everton are like, ‘That’s a lot of money’.”

Grealish alternatives for Moyes this transfer window

Southampton forward Dibling is a concrete target for the Toffees, but they may walk away from a possible deal due to the Saints’ asking price.

The Blues have bolstered their attack with Thierno Barry, but they arguably need more options up front ahead of next season.

Assane Diao is another option on Moyes’ radar, but his price tag may also be too much for the Merseyside outfit.

Grealish is undoubtedly a luxury target for Everton, and most fans will be surprised to see him move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Man City signed Grealish for £100million.

The forward earns £300,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium.

Last season, the 29-year-old was underwhelming under Guardiola.

While the 29-year-old will undoubtedly be guaranteed minutes and a prominent role at the Toffees, he may prefer playing European football instead.

Grealish will want to show Thomas Tuchel that he can play at the highest level to earn a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

With Grealish’s wages an apparent stumbling block, only time will tell whether his transfer to L5 will ever materialise.
