A diehard Manchester United supporter has started a GoFundMe campaign to help fund a £120m move for Carlos Baleba.
A GoFundMe campaign in the transfer market
**Manchester United**’s transfer budget looks stretched this summer. Now, one passionate fan has tried something truly out of left field. Setting up a GoFundMe campaign page, the supporter hopes to raise a huge £120m to secure **Carlos Baleba**’s signature.
At the time of writing, the effort had only brought in a single £5 anonymous donation. But, it has still caught the attention of fans online. However, the Seagulls are thought to be seeking a fee of more than £87m for their young midfield star.
Baleba has quickly established himself among the most in demand midfielders in the league. This comes after a breakout season under Fabian Hurzeler. He played 34 games in the PL scoring three goals. The Cameroonian is a talented youngster. He has a unique skill set which involves forward thinking passing range to unlock defenses.
The midfielder has even gained interest from Liverpool and Manchester City. His personal tale is also part of his journey. Just three years ago, he was still in Cameroon chasing a dream, he lost his mother at the time. That pain, he has said, fuels his drive today.
United fans are desperate
United’s need for a midfield engine is no secret. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte’s pre-season performances are rasing doubts. So, many supporters believe the club must add a dynamic presence in the team. They think that should be their bigger priority than even a new striker. Now, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is close to arriving for £74m.
Brighton, on the other hand, have established themselves as valuable sellers of their stars at top prices. Baleba’s market value has increased exponentially after just one full season. Should United get the deal done, Baleba would join a top list of players to make a PL switch. The likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Yves Bissouma and Moises Caicedo as former Seagulls have made high-profile moves to PL giants.
Lastly, the GoFundMe campaign is presently be more of a talking point. It is not a tangible plan, but it shows the desire and urgency of the frustrated fanbase.
