Alexander Isak told by Pif he's not leaving Newcastle United this summer - The Telegraph

ยท 9 August 2025, 13:00

Newcastle United are reportedly maintaining their position that Alexander Isak will not move to Liverpool or anywhere else this summer, according to a new report.

The Telegraph's Luke Edwards has returned from his summer holidays and has wasted no time getting right into the thick of it.

While other journalists report on the inevitability that Alexander Isak will leave Newcastle this summer, Edwards has come back with a defiant "no, he won't".

According to Edwards, the PIF has told Isak in no uncertain terms that he is a Newcastle player and will remain so next season.

The situation is surely too big a mess to come back from now

Isak is training away from the group and wasn't invited to the family event at the training ground in midweek either, as the Sweden international's actions have ostracised him from the rest of the squad.

From the outside, there looks to be no way back for Isak now as his petulant behaviour has burned so many bridges inside the club.

However, Edwards is adamant that Isak will not be sold and that he must now come to terms with the fact and get his head back in the game, acknowledging that this is a high-risk manoeuvre by the club's owners.

Newcastle fans will not forgive, but there's a chance they could temporarily forget

If this report is true, it would go some way to explaining Eddie Howe's choice of language last night after the Espanyol friendly, where he made it clear he'd love to be able to select Isak and have him train with the team, but he says he can't do that.

We genuinely don't know how Newcastle can get through a season with Isak still in the squad. He's going to be furious, the other players are going to treat him differently, and the fans, if he's not left to rot in the reserves, certainly aren't going to give him an easy ride.

Sure, all will be forgotten, but probably not forgiven, if he pulls on the shirt again next season and is banging in goals every week, but we will all know that he's just playing for the move.
