Rodrigo Muniz remains the striker the 49ers, Daniel Farke, and the recruitment team want to bring to Leeds United for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Leeds United are looking for a goalscorer to act as a focal point of their attack, and Leeds had a £32 million bid rejected for Muniz at the beginning of the transfer window.
They haven’t given up hope yet and there have been signs of positive progress over striking a deal for Muniz made in the last few weeks. However, competition for his signature remains an issue, given how impressive he was last term.
Serie A outfit Atalanta BC are also in the race for Muniz. In fact, Atalanta were said to be pushing harder to sign Muniz, with representatives meeting with Fulham in recent days, but they have been put off by Fulham’s asking price of Muniz.

Atalanta appear to withdraw from Rodrigo Muniz race
Even amid Fulham’s firm Muniz stance of not wanting to sell, that hasn’t stopped Fulham fans from being concerned about Muniz’s future at Craven Cottage.
Now, it appears Atalanta have completely moved on from Muniz, with reports they have another first-choice striker on their shortlist in mind that they are now pursuing.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla states that they want to push for Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace. It’s said that he is the striker they like the most now and they will use the Ademola Lookman sale to stump up for Mateta.

It’s good news for the Whites, amid Graham Smyth believing Leeds will sign Muniz at some stage in the current window yesterday. However, there is still other interest in Muniz to contend with.

Rodrigo Muniz’s Premier League interest outside of Leeds
It’s likely that a club-record fee from Leeds is required to sign Muniz and there is a question of how high the Serie A side can go in terms of the financials to acquire him.
That may be why they are now looking elsewhere. However, there has been Premier League interest in Muniz as well, with reports that Spurs have seen a bid for Muniz rejected earlier in the window.
With Newcastle United said to have joined the Muniz race alongside others, given that Alexander Isak’s future remains up in the air.
It’s not a given that Leeds have a free run at signing Muniz, but Atalanta have been the most interested party other than the West Yorkshire outfit.
