Bruno Fernandes presented David de Gea with a framed picture honouring his time at Manchester United ahead of the Reds' friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday.
De Gea left United in 2023 after 12 years with United. The Spaniard won the Premier League in his second season at Old Trafford and went on to win two League Cups, the FA Cup and the Europa League.
Fiorentina's friendly with United was the first time De Gea had played at Old Trafford since his United exit, and the club used the opportunity to honour the Spaniard.
De Gea received a warm reception from the United crowd and was clapped every time he touched the ball in the opening stages.
Fernandes joked that he hoped to "score some goals" against De Gea ahead of his return, to which the Spaniard replied: "As you know, I'm coming home. For sure, it's going to be a special game for me.
"Bruno, you know, you cannot score against me, and if you score, it's because I let you score so people keep singing your name!
"But honestly, I can't wait to see you my friend. I can't wait to see you all at Old Trafford, so I'll be there on Saturday, see you soon!"
