Alexander Isak has been told by Newcastle United’s board that he will not be sold to Liverpool this summer, with the club’s Saudi owners determined to block the move (via reports by Telegraph).
The 25-year-old Sweden international reacted badly to the decision, leading manager Eddie Howe to order him to train away from the main group until he accepts the situation.
Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s £110 million bid last week, making it clear they will not entertain any further offers.
Sources close to the club have reaffirmed that their stance will not change, even if they secure another striker before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Tensions rise as Isak trains in Isolation
Isak first informed Newcastle of his desire to explore a move while the team travelled to Singapore for their pre-season tour.
Officially sidelined with a minor thigh injury, he later trained alone at former club Real Sociedad without Newcastle’s permission.
Howe has stated that Isak will not rejoin the squad until the situation is right but insists he still wants the forward to play for the club.
The player has three years left on his current deal and has been told that a new contract, likely with a release clause, will be discussed after the window shuts.
Newcastle’s hierarchy are frustrated with Isak’s representatives, accusing them of advising him poorly and have denied any agreement that he could leave this summer.
Newcastle’s refusal to sell has full backing from the board, with co-owner Jamie Reuben equally firm in resisting the move.
While Liverpool have stepped back after their bid was rejected, the drawn-out saga could continue if the Reds decide to test Newcastle’s resolve with a record-breaking offer before the deadline.
For now, Howe faces the challenge of managing an unhappy player while preparing for the Premier League opener against Aston Villa without his top goalscorer.
Newcastle supporters, once devoted to Isak, have voiced their disappointment, but the club remains confident the striker can be reintegrated and go on to enjoy a successful season.
