19 G/A last season - Newcastle United dealt blow in pursuit of 25-year-old Premier League…

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Newcastle United are on the lookout for a new striker. While the Magpies have been linked with quite a few world-class forwards, they have not been able to get a deal over the line. The Tyneside club are interested in acquiring the services of Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, but they have hit a roadblock in their pursuit.

According to a report from The Athletic, Newcastle United will have to look at other targets as Wolves have no intentions of negotiating Strand Larsen’s potential departure. He is an integral part of their plans moving ahead, and they have made it quite clear that he is not for sale.

Jorgen Strand Larsen made a name for himself while playing for Celta de Vigo before joining Wolves last summer. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent at the start of July thanks to his impressive performance last time out.

The 25-year-old striker was involved in a total of 38 matches, and he ended up contributing towards 19 goals (14 goals, 5 assists). Thanks to his sensational performances in the Premier League, multiple top clubs now want to prise him away from Wolves.

Newcastle United cannot sign another striker target this summer

Newcastle United are one of the clubs that are keen on signing Jorgen Strand Larsen. The Magpies find themselves in a very difficult position as their star forward Alexander Isak’s future remains up in the air, amidst interest from rivals Liverpool.

While Newcastle United have been working hard to sign a potential replacement, they have had little success so far. They did agree a deal with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko, but the player prefers joining Manchester United. The Magpies are now looking at other names on their wishlist, and Strand Larsen is right up there.

Eddie Howe would love to have the 25-year-old in his ranks as he has already proved himself in the English top flight. But, it is unlikely to happen as Wolves won’t negotiate his departure this summer. He is central to their plans, and no amount of money could force them to sell him with his contract running until 2029.
