Leeds United team news vs AC Milan as Lucas Perri given debut with Wilfried Gnonto decision made

Lucas Perri has been handed his Leeds United debut against AC Milan in Saturday's friendly, with Daniel Farke naming a strong side.

Jayden Bogle misses out with his hip flexor issue, meaning Isaac Schmidt comes in at right-back. Pascal Struijk partners Joe Rodon in defence in preparation for the opening game of the Premier League amid Jaka Bijol's suspension. Gabriel Gudmundsson completes the back four.

The midfield in the 4-3-3 formation sees captain Ethan Ampadu sit as the pivot with Ao Tanaka and Anton Stach chosen to start the age, as Sean Longstaff begins on the bench. In this system in pre-season, Tanaka has often been seen venturing forward to link up as a loose number 10. Stach can do that too.

On the right is Daniel James, who is still pushing for peak form this summer after a stagnant time. It appears he is taking slightly longer to get up to speed following the hamstring injury that curtailed last season, albeit he has been seen sprinting fine. Wilfried Gnonto has been given the nod on the left ahead of Largie Ramazani and Jack Harrison.

Up top is Joel Piroe, who has been in fine scoring form this pre-season. Out of the current options, he is clearly the first choice pick, though United are nevertheless hunting for a new marquee striker in the market.

Barring Bogle's injury absence, this otherwise could be the line-up which begins the season opener against Everton in nine days' time. Illan Meslier has not made the squad at all.

**Leeds United starting XI:**Perri; Schmidt, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Tanaka, Ampadu, Stach; James, Piroe, Gnonto.
