Illan Meslier has no one but himself to blame as his Leeds United career falls flat.

The 25-year-old lost his place in the starting lineup last season after making some significant errors in between the sticks for the Whites.

Daniel Farke stuck with Karl Darlow towards the end of the previous campaign, with the West Yorkshire outfit dramatically winning the Championship title.

Lucas Perri’s arrival from Lyon feels like the end of Meslier’s career in LS11, and Farke may have just given another indication of the goalkeeper being sold in the coming days.

Meslier excluded from Leeds United squad v Milan

Meslier isn’t part of the travelling squad to face AC Milan at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday (9 August).

MORE LEEDS STORIES

The Frenchman has been left out of the squad for the pre-season friendly after falling down the pecking order at Elland Road in recent months.

Nothing has been reported so far in relation to the reason for Meslier’s absence. However, it could be because the West Yorkshire outfit are working on the 25-year-old’s exit before the end of August.

The Peacocks may be taking a precaution to avoid the goalkeeper picking up an injury before a possible move away.

Understand no sign of Meslier in the travelling party but Perri and Darlow have made the trip.

Farke expected to give updates after the friendly. Bogle (not here, we're hearing) the main talking point.#lufchttps://t.co/WGfNpiVWuP

Perri to be Leeds’ number one next season

Leeds have signed a quality shot-stopper in Perri, and the fans are definitely eager to see him in action ahead of next season.

The 27-year-old’s quick reflexes give him the ability to pull off close-range saves, an area Meslier needs to improve.

With modern-day football demanding goalkeepers to be quick off their lines, the Brazil national’s style of play will evidently fit at Elland Road.

Goals prevented 6.05

Perri’s Ligue 1 record last season, as per FotMob

Farke will arguably be delighted to have a sweeper keeper like Perri at his disposal as Leeds return to Premier League action at Elland Road on 18 August against Everton.

The 27-year-old could potentially need to work a bit on his distribution for the German manager to get the best out of him in LS11.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Brazilian shot-stopper be number one at the Whites for the foreseeable future, which gives Meslier a massive decision to make on his future.
