Newcastle United are closing in on a double deal set to spark a tough summer into life after weeks frustration.

As we revealed in a Friday morning exclusive[Friday morning exclusive](https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2025/08/08/exclusive-newcastle-launch-second-bid-for-malick-thiaw-in-hope-of-ac-milan-agreement/) at NUFC blog, Newcastle have launched a new and improved bid in excess of £30m for AC Milan centre-back Malick Thiaw in the last 48 hours.

Negotiations with Milan chiefs have accelerated in that time and the two clubs have struck an agreement, with Newcastle set to pay an initial £30m plus add-ons for the 23-year-old, taking the overall package to just shy of £35m.

Thiaw has been tracked by Newcastle scouts for over two years and adds much needed athleticism, presence and youth to the right side of our defence.

The player has already agreed terms and is expected to sign a five year contract at St James’ Park next week.

Then to Yoane Wissa, who also looks Newcastle-bound now Brentford have made progress on the replacement needed to sanction his sale.

While our information on a potential fee is not as clear, it’s thought an overall package in the region of £35m – potentially more with add-ons – will be enough to seal a deal, with the player hoping to arrive on Tyneside for a medical next week.

Wissa is determined to complete a move, citing the pull of Champions League football as a major factor after a 20-goal season at Brentford last season.

The DR Congo star remains keen to sign despite recent approaches from Al Nassr and NEOM and will be the club’s Callum Wilson replacement, should there be no hitches with the Bees’ pursuit of a replacement.
