The team sheets are in at St James’ Park, where Newcastle United are back in action.

After a 2-2 draw with Espanyol last night, Eddie Howe’s Mags take on Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid at 4pm.

Here is the side we’ve gone with in our final pre-season friendly of the summer:

**Confirmed line-ups**

**(4-3-3):** Pope; Ashby, Lascelles, Botman, Livramento; Trippier, Tonali, Joelinton; Elanga, Gordon, Barnes.

**Subs**: Ruddy, Gillespie, Kuol, Murphy, Heffernan, Harrison, Bailey, Charlton, Sanusi, Shahar, Neave.

Trippier appears to be playing in midfield, with Botman fit to start after coming through training on Saturday and Elanga starting his first at St James’ Park since signing from Nottingham Forest last month.

Gordon starts in a false nine role, seeing Barnes come in down the left. Pope returns in goal and it’s a rare start for Lascelles, who is back again after an ACL injury.

The team that faced Espanyol in Friday’s 2-2 draw was as follows:

**Newcastle XI (4-3-3):** Ramsdale – Krafth, Schar, Burn, Hall – Bruno, Miley, Targett –  Murphy, Osula, Seung-soo

**Subs:** Ruddy, Gillespie, A Murphy, Heffernan, Bailey, Charlton, Shahar, Kuol, Neave, Harrison.
