Celtics Make Big Contract Decision With Joe Mazzulla

In just three seasons, Joe Mazzulla has made his mark on the Boston Celtics.

He has helped them become one of the best teams in the East and NBA champions.

Therefore, it wasn’t surprising on Friday when the Celtics announced that they had signed Mazzulla to a multi-year contract extension.

The Celtics will remain in business with Mazzulla for years to come, but they may be about to face their first serious rough patch with him leading the way.

Mazulla took control of the team at the start of the 2022-23 season, after three years of being an assistant.

He inherited a very strong team from former head coach Ime Udoka, but helped them reach another level.

Just one season later, Mazzulla coached his team to their first title in years, and they were dynamic last season too.

But 2025-26 will be challenging, because the team has adjusted the roster in some big ways, and they won’t have Jayson Tatum because he was taken out with a serious injury during the playoffs.

They will try to tread water and still have a presence in the Eastern Conference, but there is no doubt that things will be difficult in the new year.

This will be Mazzulla’s chance to show what he can do when the Celtics are in a tough spot.

No matter what happens, Mazzulla is on board with this team for years to come, and they have intense faith in him.

He has done great things for them, but what can he accomplish when they are without their best player and with a transformed roster?
