As a new season dawns in the Premier League, Liverpool are being hotly tipped as the team to beat.
The Reds blew the competition away last term, ending up as clear winners, 10 points ahead of Arsenal.
Having done some superb summer transfer business, Liverpool look likely to be the best team in the land once again.
Things could have looked a whole lot different had Liverpool not tied Mohamed Salah down to a new contract in April.
Despite last season’s success, Salah was involved in a will-he-won’t-he saga with the Reds for almost the full campaign. In the end, the Egyptian stayed.
Salah will do well to beat last season’s tally of 29 Premier League goals and 18 assists, which made him a favourite amongst the Fantasy Premier League players of the world. But as he gears up to go again, Liverpool’s Egyptian King has made a point of saying something about Reds target Alexander Isak.

Mohamed Salah unhappy at FPL price tag
Salah has often been one of the very top points-scorers in FPL ever since his arrival in the Premier League in 2017.
Predictably, his tendency to both score and assist, often in the same match, has made him a must-have for players of the game. As a result, Salah is now the most expensive player out there.

However, speaking in a video released by the official Fantasy Premier League on X, Salah has claimed that the likes of Isak should have a higher price.
“Why pick me? Same question, every time same question, same answers, nothing changed!” laughed Salah.
For the third consecutive season Mo Salah isn’t happy with his price 😅

“First of all, I want you guys to put my price down so everyone can have me in the team. I said it on Twitter before, I’m telling you in a video. Put my price down and that’s it! Now I’m the highest. No!
“Put the strikers the highest! Haaland should be the highest, Isak should be the highest. Not a winger has to be the highest. Why would they pick me? Because I give them good points, guaranteed points.”
Salah could go to another level with Alexander Isak
Although Salah had a mesmerising season in 2024/25, he will have perhaps been slightly disappointed that he could not have beaten Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s joint record of 20 assists in a single campaign.
The 33-year-old was so close to doing it, and often was not helped by his teammates missing gilt-edged chances after he had set them up.
If Liverpool are successful in their pursuit of Isak, then that should change completely. Isak is an extremely clinical striker who would surely thrive when matched with Salah’s creativity.
So, although the Swede joining may knock Salah off his goal scoring perch at Anfield, it may take his goal creation up another level.
Salah clearly rates Isak as one of the best strikers in the Premier League. It’s time for them to play together.
