Robin Roefs: 8/10
Saved a first half penalty after Sadiki was harshly adjudged to have fouled an Augsburg player, made a great diving save after the break and then jumped onto the rebound. Was confident with the ball to feet and quick to come out and claim crosses.
Trai Hume: 7/10
Looked very comfortable defensively with very little threat down his side, had one shot blocked from a corner and showed an understanding with Talbi.
Dan Ballard: 7/10
Typically dominant in the air and quick to close his man down whenever the home side got close to goal.
Jenson Seelt: 6/10
A quiet but assured performance from Seelt, tidy on the ball and never looked particularly troubled.
Reinildo: 7/10
Linked up well with Adingra down the left, especially in the first half and never let anyone get past him.
Noah Sadiki: 6/10
A bit more of a disciplined display by Sadiki today, tried to stay in his position alongside Xhaka and kept the ball moving. Did have one good burst up the middle just before he went off.
Granit Xhaka (C): 7/10
As expected everything went through the captain, with Xhaka dictating play throughout. Absolutely smashed the crossbar with a driven free kick but had one scare when he overhit a back pass to Roefs, that the keeper managed to get a foot on to keep out.
Chemsdine Talbi: 7/10
Doesn’t do anything flashy on the ball but looks very effective with his passing and movement. Was unlucky not to score when providing an option Mayenda down the right but the home goalkeeper made a great save. Played some really good cross field balls to Adingra too.
Habib Diarra: 7/10
Scored the winner with a really well hit drive into the corner but impressed with his work rate ahead of Xhaka and Sadiki, never gave the Augsburg players a second to breathe before he was on them. Maybe a little too keen at times, with the opposition quick to go to ground following his pressure.
Simon Adingra: 7/10
Set up Diarra for his goal and was a threat all game with his pace and trickery. Combined well with Reinildo and had a good game other than his final ball which was often lacking, either slightly overhitting a cross or trying to bend a shot around a defender and only hitting their back.
Eliezer Mayenda: 6/10
Absolutely skied a first half penalty to make it 2-0 and missed a few other chances to get on the scoresheet, goalkeeper saved one effort after he was played in by Diarra and then he mishit a shot following Tutierov setting him up late on. Hold up play was very good though, constantly bringing his team-mates into play.
Substitutes
Jenson Jones**: 6/10**
Came on at left back following Seelt going off and had a couple of chances to impress, showing quick feet to get away from the opposition and then shooting just wide at the death.
Timur Tutierov**: 6/10**
Was only on a few minutes but was heavily involved in that time, clattering an Augsburg player almost as soon as he entered the pitch and then getting away down the right and setting up a relatively easy chance for Mayenda.
Man of the Match: Robin Roefs
Some good performances today but a clean sheet and a penalty save means my man of the match is Roefs. Was assured on and off the ball, quick to come out and claim high balls, comfortable with the ball to feet and made a few good saves. The penalty wasn’t well hit but he still had to keep it out and then made a flying save after the break and showed his reflexes to get up and throw himself onto the rebound.
