Why Baleba missed Albion friendly amid more noise from the North West

Carlos Baleba was missing from the [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/) line-up again today.

But it was not related to ongoing noise from the North West about Manchester United interest in the midfielder.

Baleba has not featured for the Seagulls since the 3-1 win over Stoke City in Marbella.

He picked up what was described as a minor knee issue in training the following weekend.

He has since missed the win over Las Palmas, the game with Coventry and the trip to Southampton.

Baleba was present at Lancing this morning to watch his club-mate beat Wolfsburg 2-0 behind closed doors with goals from Brajan Gruda and Jeremy Sarmiento.

United were this week reported to have made approaches to intermediaries seemingly with a view to turning Baleba’s head towards a move to Old Trafford.

The latest report, from United specialist Andy Mitten suggested United were ready to offer players to Albion and wanted them to be more flexible over doing a deal.

Mitten also said Baleba’s representative was willing to take a cut in his commission to make a deal happen.

As reported three weeks ago, Albion hierarchy expect Baleba to be a big-money sale but not until next summer at the earlier.

He is understood to be happy to remain with the Seagulls.
