Wolves 'expected' to bid for 11-goal forward as 'greedy' club president makes cash demand

Wolves have been linked with this versatile forward but his club are firm on their asking price.

Wolves are looking to add some new faces to their frontline before the summer transfer window slams shut in just a matter of weeks.

Following the high profile sale of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, the club are looking to ensure Vitor Pereira is well-equipped for the new Premier League season. The Portuguese boss arrived at Molineux to ensure Wolves avoided relegation following their dismal start to the previous campaign.

Wolves finished a healthy 17 points clear of the bottom three in the end but they are now looking to move forward and continue to improve.

Wolves ‘expected’ to table offer for striker

Mike McGrath of The Telegraph reported that the Old Gold are looking to sign Abline this summer to boost their attack. The France U21 international is a centre-forward by trade but can also operate on either wing. Abline contributed 11 goals for Nantes in all competitions last season.

Now, a report from French outlet Le Parisien claims that there are English clubs also in the picture trying to sign the forward, along with the interest from French sides to keep him on home soil.

With Wolves among the clubs showing interest in Abline, they are ‘expected to submit an offer’ for the player in the ‘coming hours’. That was reported on Friday, August 8th. Nantes value Abline highly, which could work in Wolves’ favour, providing they are willing to meet the proposed transfer fee, as another party may be muscled out of the equation.

Club president ‘very greedy’ over Wolves transfer target

Paris FC look to be the favourites in the race for Abline as things stand, but his price could prove to be a stumbling block. While discussions between the club and player are ‘going rather well’, the financial aspect remains a potential problem.

Nantes president Waldemar Kita had been described as being ‘very greedy’ when it comes to Abline. The club have already made more than €40 million (£30m) in sales so far this window but Kita is said to be holding out for €50 million (£37m) for the Abline alone.

Paris FC, who will compete alongside Nantes in Ligue 1 this season following their promotion, do not intend to spend any more than €20-25 million (£15-18.5m) on bringing Abline to the capital.

Discussions between the two French sides are expected to continue but unless Paris find the cash Nantes are after, their pursuit of Abline risks collapse. The player is said to prefer the idea of staying in France right now before pursuing a move abroad but a failed move to Paris could well force the door open for Wolves.
