What Wolves fans did towards Fosun during 1-0 loss to Celta Vigo speaks volumes - journalist

Wolves are officially winless in their 2025 pre-season and the blame is going in one direction.

It was a tough watch for Wolves supporters in the first game back at Molineux after the summer break.

The final score of 1-0 is kind to Wolves, who were outplayed and outran by the team they have paid £40 million to this summer.

While there were some learnable moments for Vitor Pereira, the overall play was lacklustre, leaving fans unhappy even before the final whistle blew.

Wolves fans chanted against Fosun and Jeff Shi after Celta Vigo’s goal

The boos didn’t come after 90 minutes, they came after 60.

That’s according to Liam Keen who reported for E&S: “The visitors from Spain took the lead through a superb Pablo Duran volley, which prompted home fans to chant against Fosun and chairman Jeff Shi.”

There has been a general feeling around Molineux that not enough is being done to compensate for the club’s many losses this window.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Last season’s standout performer Matheus Cunha has left for Manchester United, with second-best Rayan Ait-Nouri heading north as well. Goncalo Guedes was sold to Real Sociedad for a bag of chips and Nelson Semedo left on a free.

Despite the additions of Fer Lopez, Jhon Arias, and David Moller Wolfe, it’s fair to say the gaps in the squad are still painfully obvious.

Fosun’s ideal end to August as Wolves fans get restless

In order to get back on the good side of the Wolves support, it’s quite clear what Fosun need to do. Vitor Pereira has lofty goals for Wolves and needs the ownership to invest in the squad.

A right-back is priority number one, closely followed by an attacker. Someone like Matthis Abline who has been linked recently would fit the bill.

The central defensive area also still looks quite bare, making someone like Axel Disasi from Chelsea a solid option. Adding some depth in the midfield should also be an aim.

This is the bare minimum requirement to salvage Jeff Shi and Fosun’s reputation. Pre-season has been long and testing, and it hasn’t made the season ahead a more exciting prospect. But if they can do this business, the mood at Molineux should improve.
