WHAT HAPPENED?
The 25-year-old has one year left on his contract, which could force The Eagles to sell before the summer window slams shut. Liverpool have previously been linked to the player, with reports suggesting they have had two offers rebuffed this window. With Joe Gomez carrying an achilles injury and Jarrell Quansah's transfer to Bayer Leverkusen, they are somewhat short at centre half.

The Telegraph reports the Premier League Champions are in the box seat, as Guehi's old employers Chelsea are looking to strengthen elswhere, despite Levi Colwill's anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Blues have recently signed highly-rated youngster Jurrell Hato to strengthen their defences. Meanwhile, Newcastle, who were close to signing Guehi in a £70 million ($94m) deal last season remain, focused on strengthening their frontline in the midst of the Alexander Isak saga.
DID YOU KNOW?
Guehi has been a foundational piece of Palace's side for a number of years, and will forever have a place in the club's folklore as the captain that lifted their first piece of major silverware. His market value, however, is diminishing. The Magpies valued him at £65m ($87m) last summer, but while his stock as a player has risen, his reticence to sign a new contract in south London makes him a rapidly depreciating asset.

Ironically, Liverpool and Palace square off at Wembley on Sunday in the Community Shield. The much maligned season opener often fails to deliver the best on-field action, but the sub-plot of Guehi's future adds an intriguing narrative to the affair. To his credit, the England international has not forced Palace's hand in pursuing an exit from the club, and he could well remain at Selhurst Park for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
