5 Things To Watch For - Packers vs Jets

The Packers and Jets play tonight in the Preseason as Packer football kicks off. Here are five things to watch for as the NFL season kicks off in Green Bay.

**Wide Receiver Room**

While this one seems obvious, arguably the most jammed room on the team is the Wide Receiver room. In a room that has standout rookie, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Doubs, gadget rookie, Savion Williams, Malik Heath, Mecole Hardman, Will Sheppard, Julian Hicks, Cornelious Johnson, Isaiah Neyor, and Christian Watson when he returns, this battle is going to be one to watch. Throughout camp, the Wide Receiver room has been making plays across the field. Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jayden Reed have been making multiple highlight plays so far.

**Cornerback Room**

The Cornerback room has had arguably the most noise this offseason. With the addition of Nate Hobbs, the release of Jaire Alexander, and Bo Melton changing from Wide Receiver to Cornerback, the room has had a lot going on throughout it. During training camp thus far, the room led by Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, and Nate Hobbs has been overall performing very well. As for Bo Melton, there’s position change couldn’t be going any better. He’s recorded multiple interceptions, and multiple pass breakups in coverage while running with the first team, as well as the second team defense. Throw in newly signed Corey Ballentine, who played a good amount of snaps for the Packers last season, as well as Kamal Hadden, who’s having a solid camp, and this room will be a fun watch come game time.

**Running Back Three Battle**

The Running Back room is loaded with talent coming into the preseason. With Josh Jacobs being the secured starter, and MarShawn Lloyd set to take the backup role, Emanuel Wilson, Chris Brooks, Jalen White, Amar Johnson, and Israel Abikanda are set to fight it out for the Running Back three spot. Wilson, as well as Brooks ended up playing a lot of snaps for the Packers last season, while Jalen White is having a great camp thus far as well. Amar Johnson, and Israel Abikanda bring even more competition into the room, making this a battle to watch for starting tonight.

**Quarterback Three Battle**

Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma will be battling it out for the Quarterback three spot behind Jordan Love, and Malik Willis. Throughout camp, both players have been through their fair share of great plays, and plays that taught them different things. As the preseason goes on, expect these two to see the field a lot as the Packers go through the evaluation process to figure out which one will be the Quarterback three role. While most know Clifford, since he’s been on the team for a few years, Elgersma was the Canadian Heisman, as he played at Laurier college in Canada. The “Canadian Cannon” as he’s known around there, has been proving the name to be true with his arm talent during camp. These two will be entertaining to watch as they battle it out.

**The Safety Room**

While the room is led by First Team All-Pro, Xavier McKinney, as well as standout rookie, turned second year player in Evan Williams, the Safety room is much deeper than that. Javon Bullard, Kitan Oladapo, Zayne Anderson, and Omar Brown make up the rest of a talented room. One player to watch tonight will be Omar Brown, who had three interceptions on Family Night. Brown has had as great a camp as anyone around, and it’s time to see if he can continue to climb the depth chart, starting tonight.

Overall, the Packers have a roster that has much talent, and tonight, they’ll start to piece together the best roster possible.
