West Ham have been keen to bring another goalkeeper to the London Stadium this summer.

Following Lukasz Fabianski’s departure and Graham Potter’s apparent reluctance to trust Alphonse Areola as his first-choice goalkeeper, recruiting a new shot-stopper was a priority for West Ham.

West Ham were previously linked with a move to Botafogo’s John Victor, but a potential deal collapsed after the Brazilian turned down a move to E20.

Potter and Co. then turned their attention to Mads Hermansen from Leicester City, but despite a £20million deal going through for the 25-year-old, the Foxes look set to lose out on a portion of the fee for the Danish ‘keeper.

Leicester to lose out on over £1m after Hermansen move to West Ham

Hermansen could be in line to make his debut for the East London outfit on the opening day of the Premier League campaign against Sunderland, with the friendly against Lille coming too soon for the goalkeeper.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Whilst it would’ve been ideal to get a closer look at his new signing in pre-season, Potter can at least turn his attention to bringing new midfielders to West Ham after addressing his goalkeeping department.

Hermansen averaged 3.8 saves per game last season in the Premier League

According to a new report from Tipsbladet, Hermansen’s move to West Ham means his former club Brondby will be in line to secure a cool £1.2m after having a sell-on clause put in his contract with Leicester.

Hermansen will be the 15th most expensive signing in West Ham’s history, and supporters will be hoping he has the same longevity at the club as Fabianski.

More additions needed for Potter

Whilst it was a priority for Potter to bring in a new goalie, there are still other holes in his squad that need to be filled urgently.

Raheem Sterling could be a perfect addition to add more of a goalscoring threat to the Hammers next season, with the winger set to leave Chelsea over the summer.

Despite Callum Wilson already arriving on a free, more forwards are still needed in E20 when considering the former Newcastle player’s injury struggles.
