Everton remain confident that Jack Grealish could be unveiled at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.

The Toffees have so far added Thierno Barry, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Adam Aznou, Mark Travers and Carlos Alcaraz to their squad this summer.

With a season of redemption ahead for both the Merseyside club and the Manchester City winger, Grealish and Everton could be a match made in heaven.

Moyes could ‘persuade’ Grealish to sign for Everton

It is well documented that Everton are keen on welcoming Grealish aboard this summer. But the deal is said to be difficult for a number of reasons.

The first are the club-to-club negotiations with Man City. Everton want Grealish on a season-long loan.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Meanwhile, the Man City star’s wages are bound to be an issue. However, perhaps the most pressing problem of all will be convincing the winger to sign for the club. Despite being demoted to a peripheral role at City, Grealish has a long list of admirers.

Everton has made their interest known

But there is a sense that Grealish would prefer a move to a more competitive side

Napoli, as well as Tottenham, are two clubs that have been linked in recent weeks

However, Moyes is “persuasive”, and it would be unsurprising if the Englishman becomes one of “an influx of additions” towards the end of the window, according to Dominic King via the Daily Mail (9 August).

Therefore, the best may be yet to come where the transfer of Grealish is concerned.

Everton will be hoping to unlock this version of Grealish

Missing out on Grealish would not be devastating

While signing Grealish makes sense from a marketing perspective, there is little incentive from a sporting one.

Of course, he still has credit in the bank from his Aston Villa days, and Everton will be hoping to rediscover that version of him. However, the likelihood of failure is far greater than success.

The Englishman has been at City for a handful of years and has yet to show his full class. If he can’t thrive in one of the best teams in the world, under one of the greatest managers of all time, what’s to say he will be able to at Everton?

Signing Grealish will be a risk and one that Everton may not have the funds to pay.
