Brenden Aaronson has typically been one of the first names on the teamsheet for Leeds United under Farke.

Leeds United concluded their pre-season schedule with a 1-1 draw against AC Milan in Dublin, with Anton Stach on the scoresheet.

German midfielder Stach ran the game for the Whites, and will have certainly raised optimism levels ahead of their return to the Premier League.

However, while his quality became apparent, the same can be said for the future of Aaronson, who was a second-half substitute against the Serie A giants.

Leeds will not make space for Aaronson this season

Aaronson played the 10 role for Leeds last season, and based on Farke’s decision against AC Milan, that will not be a position utilised in the Premier League.

The Whites started the game with three flat midfielders, and the USMNT international simply will not fit the current system.

In all honesty, he struggled to have much of an influence in his preferred position, and that was without the added responsibility of protecting the backline.

It’s highly unlikely that he will leave Leeds this summer, but it is clear that he won’t be a starter for Farke, and based on his displays last season, it wouldn’t be an unwarranted decision.

Leeds must step up search for attacking recruits

Leeds performed well in every aspect aside from the attack against Milan, and that needs to be addressed in the coming week if they are to get off to a good start in the Premier League.

The Whites created chances, but a lack of a clinical finisher saw them amount to nothing, with Joel Piroe leading the line.

There is still time on their side to achieve that with the window open until September, but Farke will surely be keen to add them to his squad before the season starts.
