After managing to win just one measly game in 2020, the Jacksonville Jaguars went bargain shopping in free agency. Among the players they signed was safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Although the former Miami Hurricane had his moments, he also made headlines for the wrong reasons. That includes the time he got ejected for throwing a punch.
During a recent brawl in the Cleveland Browns preseason opener, Jenkins proved that he hasn't changed much since leaving the Jags in 2024.
Former Jaguars DB Rayshawn Jenkins gets ejected from an NFL game for throwing a punch (again)
Back in Week 10 of the 2021 season, the Jaguars got steamrolled by the San Francisco 49ers. Rayshawn Jenkings let his emotions get the best of him and was disqualified for punching receiver Jauan Jennings.
Fast forward to 2025, and he once again got ejected for getting into a brawl with wide receiver Xavier Legette. What's noteworthy about the scuffle is that, again, this was a preseason bout. There was no reason for letting tempers flare.
A fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017, Jenkins signed a four-year deal with the Jaguars in 2021. However, he was released in 2024. The St. Petersburg, Florida native then spent a season with the Seattle Seahawks and signed a one-year contract with the Browns in 2025.

Rayshawn Jenkins has left much to be desired with the Jaguars
There's no doubt that Rayshawn Jenkins outperformed his draft slot. However, he left much to be desired during his stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Expected to be a positive locker room presence, he was anything but.
Getting ejected from a game because you feel frustrated doesn't particularly scream leadership. But leaving aside Jenkins' locker-room impact or lack thereof, he wasn't much of a game-changer in Duval.
Sure, the veteran safety registered three interceptions and three forced fumbles in 2022, but he was a non-factor in his other two seasons with the Jags. Not surprisingly, Jacksonville moved on from him after an underwhelming 2023. His stint with the Seattle Seahawks wasn't much different, as he didn't log any picks or forced fumbles.
It's possible that Rayshawn Jenkins is entering the journeyman stage of his NFL career after a pair of unremarkable seasons. Maybe he can buck the trend with the Cleveland Browns, but it's fair to say that he isn't off to a great start.
