Arsenal could face the challenge from Nottingham Forest for attacker Ademola Lookman, who remains intent on leaving Atalanta.
According to The Sun, Ademola Lookman has emerged as a target for Nottingham Forest. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side must challenge Arsenal and mainly Inter Milan for the signature of the Nigerian international, who has formally asked to leave Atalanta this summer.
The Ademola Lookman case is gaining plenty of momentum from some of the top clubs, as the availability of the Atalanta winger makes a case for itself. In a market where teams are looking for quality additions, the Nigerian has to be on top of the list of many such suitors.
Inter Milan have done the groundwork on his transfer, having seen a bid or two rejected by Atalanta so far in the process. They are short of paying the reported €50 million that the Bergamo side wants for the winger, as the price tag may have attracted interest from Premier League clubs.
Arsenal are keen on signing Ademola Lookman, as they seek an alternative to the rather costly Eberechi Eze. The Gunners probably view both players in a similar vein to what they want in their attacking setup, as the price point may come into play.
Lookman has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Inter Milan, and he has already formally informed Atalanta of his desire to quit this summer. While there are no guarantees for the Nerrazuri yet that they can sign the winger, who contributed to 27 goals last season, they are certainly in front of the queue.
Nottingham Forest enter the Ademola Lookman chase
Nottingham Forest are yet to replace Anthony Elanga since his move to Newcastle United earlier in the summer. They are looking at several options such as Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea to come into their squad, and now with the availability of Lookman, they are drawn to the wantaway Atalanta attacker.
The Tricky Trees must force the issue and try convincing the Nigerian international of their project, which comes without UEFA Champions League football. Hence, they might face a tall order of beating the likes of Arsenal or Inter Milan for the Atalanta ace, although from the price point, Lookman might be someone who fits into their plans.
