Analyst Slights Eagles QB Jalen Hurts With Shocking NBA Comparison

Fresh off leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl and capturing Super Bowl MVP honors, Jalen Hurts has been a big topic of conversation this offseason. Despite what he's been able to accomplish, one analyst jabbed at the veteran QB when comparing him to another athlete.

The discourse around Hurts began when he was ranked as the ninth-best quarterback in the NFL right now. Some felt that was too low given he had just won a championship, while others felt it was more than justified.

Many agree that Hurts is a big-game player, but his biggest slight is the cast of talent around him. It's commonly held over him that he has the services of an elite running back and wide receiver duo in the form of Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, and AJ Brown.

Analyst makes head-scratching NBA comparison for Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

Earlier this week, Yahoo Sports' Nate Tice was a guest on The Kevin O'Connor Show. Though typically a basketball podcast, the two got to talking some NFL ahead of the 2025 season.

When the topic of Hurts came up, Tice also cited that he benefits from having a strong foundation around him. He then took a slight jab at the Eagles QB, comparing him to longtime forward Harrison Barnes on the Golden State Warriors' title teams.

"Did the Warriors win back in the day because of Harrison Barnes? That's kind of Jalen Hurt's role in that offense," Tice said. "They've created one of the first quarterback and head coach independent teams that I've seen in the NFL. Where they win games no matter what the head coach and quarterback do."

Barnes is a former top-ten pick who provided a good boost for the Warriors. However, the foundation of the dynasty was built around Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

While Hurts does have a strong supporting cast around him, the dynamic he brings to the Eagles should not be overlooked. Before Barkley arrived in Philadelphia and put together a historic season, Hurts was battling for MVP honors with Patrick Mahomes.

While the outside noise around him has been somewhat negative, Hurts hasn't let it get to him. Since training camp began, he's been adamant about not changing his approach to further showcase his talents. Hurts' primary focus remains on leading the Eagles to victories no matter how it's done.
