Any sort of talk of fatigue kicking into the players has just been eradicated by this comfortable professional and energetic performance.
The Blues play one more pre season game against AC Milan before facing Crystal Palace in the opening Premier League game.
Player ratings from tonight’s 2-0 win below..
Filip Jorgensen: 8
Not called into action much and has taken his opportunity well.
A save from a grimaldo free kick is the only bit of action hes had to do but his distribution and cross catching has been great. Maresca might have a selection headache for the AC Milan game.
Malo Gusto: 7
Very good 1 v 1 defending and aggressive in his tackling. Hopefully the final against PSG has brought back the old Gusto we have adored.
Josh Achaempong: 8
Following the news of Colwills injury, this is going to be a big season for Josh, and he has defended extremely well this game.
Particularly his break up play and his driving with the ball from defence to midfield.
Trevoh Chalobah: 8.5
A proper leaders performance from Trev. Commanded the backline and was comfortable defending and receiving the ball in wide areas.
Marc Cucurella: 8
An extremely solid performance from our starting LB. He still remains sharp as ever and aggressive in his tackling even though it’s a friendly.
I Keep saying, his revelation has been insane and hes arguable the number 1 left back.
Moises Caicedo: 8.5
No one can get past Caicedo! Wow… i mean the 100 plus million price tag seems a very cheap buy. His tackling and interceptions are world class.
Andrey Santos: 7.5
A solid performance from our midfield maestro, solidified the structure of the midfield well and was comfortable receiving the ball especially back to goal. His starting of attacks was instrumental to our fluid attack.
Estevao: 9.5 (MOTM)
I mean wow…!!! What an upgrade at RW and what a standing ovation type performance from this kid. If there was any doubts whether he wasn’t ready, im certain he is.
A very well taken finished goal and caused havoc down the right side with his tricks and link up play.
Cole Palmer: 8.5
Extremely instrumental in our attacking build up and very unlucky to not score the dinked attempt.
Vital we keep on playing Palmer so there is no rustiness when the season starts.
Tyrique George: 3.5
Sadly a disappointing performance from George and a loan move may seem the best option for him to keep on gaining minutes.
Staying here wouldn’t be the best option for him as his development wont progress well. He’s struggling to beat his full back 1 v 1 and find any striking ability of the ball.
Liam Delap: 5.5
Worked effortlessly for the team and had some nice touches and lay offs.
Had a great chance to score in the first half but couldn’t capitalise. Just glad there isn’t extreme pressure on him to deliver with options off the bench to help.
**Subs:**
Dario Essugo: 7
By far his best stint in a Chelsea shirt. Extremely impressive off the bench and a Caicedo esque display.
Its great to see he can learn off the best in that position. Very exciting times for Essugo and he will fit in well in the lesser games.
Tosin: 6.5
Composed and cool performance. Maintained his aerial duels and ground duels well and the Colwill injury might make Tosin more favourable and crucial to maintaining clean sheets.
Jorell Hato: 6
Some good bits of play down his side and seems very confident on the ball. Very early days, but hope to see more of him against Milan
Pedro Neto: 6
Looked positive and lively by always trying to take on his opposing fullback. Put in some teasing crosses as ever and worked tirelessly for the team
Reece James: 6
Soaked in the whole stadium chanting his name and came on as a sub and produced a fine display. Key to manage his minutes and would like to see the same against Milan.
Jamie Gittens: 6.5
Extremely excited to see one of our big summer signings flourish in already quality attack. The trickery down the left was scary.. but not for us!
Joao Pedro: 7.5
A very impactful sub appearance! Arguably was more involved in the game than Delap was and he took his finish extremely well.
His physical presence is certainly underrated. He must start against Crystal Palace next Sunday.
Anselimo: 5
Kept things ticking at the back and dealt with any Leverkusen threat. Looks slow, though.
Antwi: 6.5
Influential in the second goal by a great run down the wing to set up Pedro for 2-0!
Rak-Sakyi: N/A
Enzo Maresca: 10
Managed this game perfectly with the starting 11 and the amount of subs made at the right time.
Interestingly put Estevao as a number 10 in the second which seemed to work as well! Lets hope for something similar Sunday!
