COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State is reportedly adding a former NFL defensive coordinator to its staff.
Per a Saturday afternoon report from Pete Thamel, Ohio State is expected to add longtime NFL assistant Josh Boyer to the staff. Presumably, he will be an analyst in Columbus.
Boyer was with new defensive coordinator Matt Patricia for years and worked for the Patriots from 2006-18 and has three Super Bowls to his name. He was last with the Miami Dolphins from 2020-22 as the team’s defensive coordinator. His role in Miami was the last title he held.
Boyer’s specialty comes in the defensive backfield, as he coached defensive backs from 2009-11 and cornerbacks from 2012-18 in New England.
Boyer is from Heath and went to Muskingum University in Ohio.
