Ter Stegen is expected to address the Barcelona fans at the Joan Gamper Trophy

The recent controversy surrounding Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was clearly problematic. Fortunately, both the club and the player realised this, and a solution was found. Now, at least relatively, Barcelona and the German goalkeeper appear to be on better terms.

However, one question that remained unanswered was related to the player’s presence at the Joan Gamper Trophy game against Como. Traditionally, Barça captains are present to address the fans, and that is why Ter Stegen’s recent issues caused a lot of confusion over whether or not that tradition would be kept alive.

Fortunately, it seems that the tradition will indeed be kept alive. According to Mundo Deportivo, Ter Stegen will be present and will appear at the Estadi Johan Cruyff to address the fans as a club captain ahead of the match even though he will not be actively participating in it.

After all, he is currently recovering from a recent surgery and only recently did he authorise the club to send in his medical report to La Liga. This is definitely a good sign, as unwanted controversies can be a really bad look for the club.

As for the game itself, the encounter promises to be an exciting clash. Both teams have been in scintillating form over the course of their respective preseasons so far, and are yet to lose or draw a game before the start of the official season.
