Manchester United entertain Arsenal in their Premier League curtain-raiser on August 17.
Ahead of the game, the Red Devils have had decent preparation.
The club played out a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina on Saturday afternoon before winning on penalties.
Ayden Heaven started in the left centre-back role and produced an impressive performance.
The 18-year-old had a passing accuracy of 98 percent (40/41) with 100 percent long balls (3/3). He managed 48 touches.
Heaven also won 100 percent of his ground and aerial duels, losing possession just twice.
The England youth international was rock solid on the left side of United’s back three.
He unfortunately picked up a knock in the 73rd minute and was replaced by Luke Shaw.
However, Heaven did not have any strapping on his leg during the Snapdragon Trophy presentation.
Hopefully, he will be deemed fit ahead of the league opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Heaven made his senior league debut against his former employers in March this year.
The teenager has now sent a big message to manager Ruben Amorim with his display against Fiorentina, and should make the starting XI ahead of Shaw, provided he is adjudged fit to play.
United had an even record with the Gunners last season with a win, a draw and a defeat in all competitions, but they have not beaten Mikel Arteta’s side in a league meeting in five attempts.
The Red Devils previously beat Arsenal in the top-flight in September 2022, and have the opportunity to put an end to the streak with a strong showing in the season opener next weekend.
United have had better preparation in pre-season than the Gunners based on results. Arsenal have suffered a couple of losses, and Amorim will have his sights on securing three points.
