England star on Leeds United radar – player wants summer move

Leeds United have officially completed their pre-season preparations and can look forward to the Premier League season. The Whites played out a 1-1 draw with Serie A side AC Milan on Saturday.

In front of a sold out crowd at the Aviva stadium, Leeds put on a show. It was a decent game against one of Europe’s elite sides. The result was positive, but the execution in front of goal still left a lot to be desired.

The end of the match came with some good news as Daniel Farke revealed that Jayden Bogle will be fit in time for the Everton game. The right back is set to return to training this week. Farke’s words on Illan Meslier however, did not sound like the keeper has a future at Elland Road.

With just over a week to go till the Premier League starts, Leeds are expected to be in the market for reinforcements.

According to The Mirror, Kalvin Phillips has once again popped up on the radar. The midfielder is currently rehabilitating and injury and is expected back on the pitch soon. However, he has been made surplus to requirements to Manchester City, who could offload him this summer.

Midfielder wants move

It has already been reported multiple times this summer that the midfielder is open to a move. He was close to a return back in 2023, but Leeds lost the Championship play-off final and failed to reach the Premier League.

Phillips has since gone on to complete loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich.

Wages will be a problem

The biggest stumbling block in any deal will obviously be the wages. Phillips reportedly earns around £120,000-a-week. If Leeds cannot figure out a way to structure his wages, a summer transfer would be near impossible. The most likely option this summer would be a loan deal, with City covering most of the wages.
