The 22-year-old English goalkeeper has been the latest addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad, completing a move to the Etihad Stadium on a five-year deal until June 2030.

The move from Burnley marked an emotional return to City for the England Under-21 international who spent almost eight years at the club as part of our Academy before moving to Turf Moor in 2023.

Others to have walked through the doors of the training ground ahead of the 2025/26 campaign include Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Marcus Bettinelli as well as young starlet Sverre Nypan.

And Trafford has hailed the quality in the group in the aftermath of our 3-0 friendly victory over Palermo, with the first game of the season at Wolves now just a week away.

“There’s going to be a lot of energy, a lot of quality,” he said.

“They are all obviously very talented players and it’s a brilliant squad we have and it’s only going to get better.”

Trafford played the first 45 minutes in Sicily and enjoyed the experience of putting on the City jersey once again, especially in the electric atmosphere of the Renzo Barbera Stadium where the hosts, a sister CFG club, were kicking off their 125th anniversary celebrations.

“It was brilliant to be fair,” he added.

“Their fans were brilliant even though it was a friendly.

“They were fantastic, all first half they were loud behind the goal.

“They are a good team and it was a really good game.”
