Chiefs Dynasty Is ‘Over’ for Four Reasons, Claims Colin Cowherd

This offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs have perhaps had more skeptics of what they can become than ever before, as it appears the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles severely dented the confidence in Andy Reid’s team.

Granted, just one game of football ago, the Chiefs were close to a historic three-peat and were considered one of the best teams ever, yet many are jumping off the bandwagon before the 2025 season begins.

We aren’t, but for FS1’s Colin Cowherd, he thinks the Kansas City dynasty talk is now officially over.

“I think Kansas City, the dynasty part is over,” Cowherd said on The Herd. “They may win a Super Bowl, but I think their division’s too good to be a dynasty. Kansas City deserves all the credit in the world. They’ve taken advantage of Justin Herbert with bad coaches. They’ve taken advantage of Denver in a rebuild and the Raiders in a perpetual rebuild. They deserve credit for all of it, but there’s never been a division with four head coaches that have been to a Super Bowl.”

Wait. What? Colin is saying KC could win a Super Bowl AND that this dynastic run is done? How can both be true?

Anyway …

A lot of people have spoken of how the division has improved, and it has, but let’s not forget that until proven otherwise, the Chiefs are the apex predator in the division.

In his career, Patrick Mahomes is 35-5 against the AFC West, so things are going to need to undergo a seismic shift in 2025 for the Chiefs not to win the division again. Yes, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Denver Broncos are expected to make the playoffs, while the Las Vegas Raiders under Pete Carroll should be improved, but Kansas City is still the team to beat.

Reid and Mahomes will have to do something they aren’t used to doing in their Chiefs careers in 2025, and that is to prove the doubters wrong.

Is the dynasty really over? That, my friends, is quite a conversation starter.
