Cowboys’ Overshown hosts third annual ‘Back to School’ event at Arp City Park

ARP, Texas (KLTV) - The city of Arp is no stranger to Cowboys’ linebacker DeMarvion Overshown after starting his rise to the NFL right down the road at Arp High School.

And today at the Arp City Park, Agent Zero is making sure it stays that way.

Hosting his third annual ‘Back to School’ event, where kids could get backpacks, school supplies, and a couple of autographs from Overshown.

And with the former Longhorn constantly coming back to support Arp,

It’s made the Cowboys’ rising star a familiar face to expect in the 903.

“He remembers where he came from,” Arp’s Mayor Terry Lowry said. “...and with him giving back to the community, I mean you see how strong it is,”.

“He doesn’t mind letting people know where he’s from and what it means to him,”.

But Overshown’s pride in the Arp community does not stop outside of Smith County,

With DeMarvion using his platform to educate the nation on B’east’ Texas.

“Me being in a spot where I can shine a light on the town of Arp or shine a light on the cities of East Texas playing with the Cowboys, I do it whenever I can,” Overshown said. “...I tell people all the time, when I come down here, they rejuvenate me,”.

But it’s not just a one-way street.

As much as Arp means to Overshown,

He means even more to the small town just outside of Tyler.

“You see \[Arp’s\] growing, we keep growing,” Arp native Abraxton Martin said. “...Arp’s gonna keep growing because of him. Our football teams, we feed because of him,”.

“We want to be like him,”.
