Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb did not play in the team’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, but the star wideout still managed to be penalized. A viral video emerged of Lamb being run over by a referee as the playmaker had his eyes on a play during the Cowboys-Rams game.
“An official just decked an unassuming CeeDee Lamb on the Cowboys sideline,” Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris detailed in an August 9, 2025, message on X. “He was penalized for ‘a foul on the official’. Lamb is good. Everyone on the sideline is laughing.”

It is a bizarre penalty, especially given the flag came during a preseason game. The good news is Lamb appears to be okay despite taking a massive hit in the back from the referee.
When Lamb does eventually suit up, all eyes will be on how the playmaker performs alongside George Pickens. Lamb appears confident heading into the upcoming season.
“I feel like the league knows what happens when I’m healthy and I have Dak for a whole season,” Lamb told The Athletic’s Jon Machota on July 23. “But, if you don’t, I will happily show you what it’s going to be like this year, honestly.
“I’m a dominant receiver. I don’t like to speak highly of myself, but I can’t wait to show you guys.”
