Former Arkansas kicker Cam Little drills 70-yard field goal in NFL preseason game

Former Arkansas kicker Cam Little drilled a 70-yard field goal with 1 second left in the first half of an NFL preseason game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night.

Because it came in a preseason game the field goal will not count as the NFL record for longest field goal, but it was farther than Justin Tucker’s record of 66 yards in 2021.

Little, who holds the Arkansas program record for field-goal percentage (82.8%), was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Jaguars. He won the starting job as a rookie last season.

His 70-yard kick against the Steelers came on a third-and-7 from the right hash. It was struck down the middle and cleared the crossbar with plenty of distance.

Little decided to declare for the NFL draft as a junior, forgoing his senior season. He told reporters then it was because he felt he had the leg strength needed for the next level.

“In order to be at that level for most teams you’ve got to be able to make those deep attempts,” Little said in 2024. “I feel like I showed success during the season with that and I felt like I was ready mentally to go chase my dream in the NFL.”
