GREEN BAY — The New York Jets handed the Packers a 30-10 loss in the preseason opener for both teams Saturday night at Lambeau Field.
The Packers struggled to score and move the ball consistently throughout the game.
Kicker Brandon McManus hit a 46-yard field goal in the second quarter, and the Packers scored a touchdown in the early moments of the fourth quarter when rookie running back Amar Johnson (from South Dakota State) scampered 39 yards for paydirt.
Johnson finished the game rushing for 67 yards on seven carries, while Will Sheppard led the Green Bay receivers with 20 yards on two receptions.
Quarterback Jordan Love went 1-for-5 passing for 7 yards in limited action. Of the four QBs to take the field for Green Bay, Malik Willis accumulated the most passing attempts, going 4-for-9 for 43 yards. Willis was also sacked three times, including one that led to a fumble recovery in the end zone for the Jets in the second quarter.
Indianapolis (0-1) hosts Green Bay (0-1) Saturday, Aug. 16, at Lucas Oil Stadium at 1 p.m.
