GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAW) - The Packers took on Lambeau Field for the first time this preseason. Ahead of the game, there was a lot of buzz around Matthew Golden making his first start in the green and gold, but the Packers’ offense was unable to make much magic Saturday night.
Jordan Love completed two drives, converting one of five attempts for seven total yards.
The offensive weapon that brought on Green Bay’s only score was none other than rookie running back Amar Johnson. Johnson tore away for a 39-yard touchdown.
A Titletown storyline all training camp long was Bo Melton’s big switch from wide receiver to cornerback. Melton looked comfortable on the defense, recording his first tackle as a Packer.
Ball security was a struggle throughout the game, with two fumbles on the Green Bay side of the ball. The first was from quarterback Malik Willis in the end zone, where the New York Jets had a sack and fumble recovery for a touchdown. The other from Mecole Hardman on a muffed punt return.
A rusty start for the Packers, but a long season to go, and several pieces yet to connect.
