From Earlier Friday Night

The Detroit Lions second game of the exhibition season ended abruptly Friday night at the 14:50 mark of the 4th quarter against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium after the Lions' defensive back Morice Norris was injured so severely that he had to be carted away in an ambulance.

Norris, 24, was injured while trying to tackle Atlanta running back Michael Carter, who played for Michigan State. His head collided with Carter's knew. Medical crews quickly ran onto the field to attend to Norris, who was flat on the ground, motionless.

Players from both teams were very emotional.

An emotional Coach Dan Campbell held a press conference, saying Norris is "breathing, he's talking. He's got some movement." He said tests were being run.

"We agreed it just didn't feel right to finish that game." The Lions were leading Atlanta 17-10.

Campbell described Norris as a class act.
