In the middle of the New York Jets versus Green Bay Packers preseason game, something strange occurred.
WRFV sports reporter Cameron Ezeir was walking back to the media room when he happened to cross paths with wide receiver Allen Lazard. Lazard, according to Ezeir, was “walking into the Jets locker room in a sling.”
“Talk about crazy timing,” Ezeir added.

Lazard’s right arm was in the sling, Ezeir later explained on social media.
Head Coach Aaron Glenn Addresses Lazard Injury
“Lazard had a shoulder,” head coach Aaron Glenn told the media after the game. “We will get more tests on that and see where that is.”
Brian Costello of the New York Post revealed on X previously Twitter that after the game, Lazard left the locker room “with his right arm in a sling.”

Other Injuries of Note From the Game
Isaiah Davis has an ankle injury, but Coach Glenn believes he will be “just fine.”
Davis carried the rock six times for 14 rushing yards. He also added one reception for 11 yards.
Kene Nwangwu is dealing with a “calf” issue, but he thinks that he will be “just fine also.”
The former All-Pro return man posted five rushing attempts for 10 yards. That is the same number of rushing attempts Nwangwu had for the entire year in 2023. He also contributed a kickoff return for 35 yards during the game.
Glenn also said starting safety Tony Adams has a “thigh” injury, but “I think he will be just fine, though. He will be just fine.”
Adams only totaled two tackles, both of them assisted.
When One Door Closes, Another One Opens
If Lazard is seriously hurt, we don’t have an update to share at the time of publication, then that opens the door for others to step up potentially.
15 Jets players caught a pass from Fields on Saturday, August 9. Several displayed flashes that they could be a permanent solution for the show.
“Brandon Smith showed out in last year’s preseason and is doing it again,” Michael Nania of Jets X-Factor posted.

“2nd pre season in a row Brandon Smith has had absolute cartoonish vice grip hands. Similar size/ blocking profile to Lazard. I’d roster Smith and cut Lazard 🤷♂️,” Jets content creator The Buffalo Jet Fan said.

Lazard took a pay cut this offseason to stay with the Jets. Had he refused to do it, he might have been released or traded to another franchise.
There are still two preseason games to go after this one, so plenty of time.
