Everton plot move for highly-rated Norwich City defender

Norwich City defender Kellen Fisher is attracting interest from Premier League Everton in the final weeks of the window, according to Pete O’Rourke.

Norwich City’s disappointing campaign last season proved costly for Johannes Hoff Thorup, who lost his job as head coach. He has been succeeded by Liam Manning, the former Bristol City manager, who will be eager to steer NCFC back into the Championship’s upper reaches.

Manning has received strong backing in the transfer market, with several new arrivals in Norfolk. However, the squad has also suffered notable losses, chief among them Borja Sainz, sold to Porto, and the likely departure of Josh Sargent, despite his recent decision to turn down a move to VfL Wolfsburg.

There is interest in several of their players mounting, and the latest is Kellen Fisher. According to Pete O’Rourke, via X, Premier League Everton are keen to take Fisher to Merseyside after his breakout season last year.

Everton have taken an eye on several EFL players and Fisher is another in their radar. He made his debut with Norwich City in 2023 but last year was his first full season with the Canaries.

Fisher joined Norwich City in 2023 from Bromley for a fee of around £100k. Any sale this summer would likely represent a huge profit for NCFC.

Plenty of options for Norwich City

Fisher was a mainstay in the Canaries’ side last season. However, in this season’s opener, a 2-1 loss at home to Millwall, Fisher only featured for seven minutes, coming off the bench late on.

Very early days in the season of course, but it could hint that Fisher is not in favour with Manning. The experienced Jack Stacey started the game instead for Norwich City.

Norwich City do have plenty of depth at right-back too, with several players able to cover there, including young Brad Hills and Ruairi McConville. Given that fact, it could be interesting to see who Norwich City approach any bid for Fisher.

Norwich City Continue Youth-Focused Transfer Strategy

Norwich City’s transfer approach once again centres on signing younger players with high potential. This has been a consistent theme both this summer and in previous windows.

Fisher’s arrival fit this model, and with Everton reportedly interested, a sale could provide funds to reinvest. While the club has made shrewd moves for experienced names like Jeffrey Schlupp and Harry Darling on free transfers, the bulk of their business has targeted emerging talents who could develop into major on-field assets, like Fisher.

This summer has seen plenty arrive. Pape Amadou Diallo and Mathias Kvistgaarden have joined the club, they could be the latest to follow in Fisher’s footsteps.
