European club president drops transfer bombshell on Leeds United striker target

Leeds United are expected to be one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League in the final weeks of the transfer window. The club are in the hunt to bring in attacking reinforcements with Daniel Farke insisting that his squad are not ready for the Premier League without additions to their final third.

The Whites have had three creditable draws against Manchester United, Villarreal and AC Milan during pre-season. They looked solid and hard to beat, but they looked bereft of ideas in the final third, and it underlined the importance of the club bringing in attacking reinforcements before the end of the window.

Leeds have been in talks to sign Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss, and have also expressed an interest in signing Liverpool’s 19-year-old Scottish winger, Ben Doak, in the ongoing transfer window.

However, the biggest priority is to sign a new striker, and Leeds are looking at several options on their table while keeping a close eye on Rodrigo Muniz’s situation at Fulham, as he remains the club’s top target before the window closes on September 1st.

Lecce president makes transfer declaration about Leeds United target Nikola Krstovic

Nikola Krstovic has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds this summer, despite strong suggestions that he wants to stay in Italy next season.

He has been hoping for offers from some of the big Italian clubs, but Leeds have continued to monitor his situation at Lecce in the ongoing transfer window.

Atalanta have made a move to sign the forward, but his future is far from sorted, and he is still considering his options ahead of the transfer window.

But he definitely wants to leave Lecce, and club president Sticchi Damiani confirmed that Krstovic wants a fresh challenge away from his club this summer.

“Nikola Krstovic wants to leave and try a new chapter in his career”, he was quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano.

A move to Leeds could still be possible if he doesn’t find the kind of club he wants in Italy before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

The striker search has been frustrating for Farke

Farke is not happy that his striker options ahead of Leeds’ Premier League opener against Everton a week from Monday are Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha.

Signing a striker was the biggest priority going into the summer window, but with a little over three weeks left in the transfer window, the club are yet to address that issue.

Leeds have not moved on to other targets as they still believe Fulham will sell Rodrigo Muniz before the end of the window, but time is running out quickly.

Unless there is a dramatic shift in the coming days, Leeds are almost certain to start the season without the arrival of a starting number 9, and that could not have been the plan at the start of the summer.
