Cam Little: 70-Yard Field Goal Not Even Furthest Place Kicker Can Hit

Cam Little just re-wrote the script for what's possible in football games.

The Jacksonville Jaguars place-kicker, who is renowned for how far he can hit the ball, just nailed a 70-yard field goal in pre-season, during the Jags' game against Pittsburgh Steelers at EverBank Stadium in Florida.

As it's a pre-season game, it won't count in official NFL statistics but, as the NFL record is 66 yards, it suggests Little could easily smash that when official matches begin — especially as he's kicked even further than that before.

Cam Little Becomes Bryson DeChambeau of NFL

As the commentary team pointed out, he struck it from his team's own 40-yard line. Even his own team, who selected the 21-year-old in the sixth round with the 212th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from Arkansas Razorbacks, were at odds when trying to describe what their rookie had pulled off.

As one fan posted, it's like a golfer hitting a 400-yard drive. This isn't out of the realms of possibilities, but it would have to be wind-favorable conditions, and struck by none other than Bryson DeChambeau, an American big-hitter who is wowing crowds in LIV Golf and the world's majors, of late.

'Bucky' Brooks, an American sportswriter and former football player during a five-year NFL career, also attempted to make sense of what had happened.

"This is absolutely bananas."

"I can't even imagine a kicker attempting a 70-yarder. To be on the call when Cam Little makes it…"

Finally, a Arkansas Razorback reporter, Daniel Fair, showed that Little has been doing that for years — and even drilled one kick 72 yards.

The NFL season starts early September but the Jaguards aren't in action until the 7th of the month when they take on the Carolina Panthers at EverBank. All eyes will likely be on Little, and whether he can continue firing on all cylinders like he did in pre-season.
