Former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood was involved in an on-pitch brawl during Marseille's pre-season victory over Aston Villa.
The incident was sparked after Amadou Onana was caught late by the forward. Onana appeared to take exception to the challenge and the pair appeared to be squaring up to each other when centre-back Tyrone Mings got involved.
The situation soon escalated with Mings grabbing Greenwood by his shirt and tugging him back and forth as both sets of players tried to break up the incident. In the aftermath, Greenwood's shirt was visibly ripped by the defender but neither man was sent off.
Greenwood had scored the opener for Marseille against Villa in a game that they would ultimately win 3-1 thanks to a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace in the second half. After the game, Greenwood took to Instagram to share an update as he posted action shots from the win.
He did not reference the fight on social media but did repost a clip of him shrugging off the challenge of Mings before slotting the ball away for the opener. Greenwood left United last summer after being suspended by the club in January 2022 amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

All charges were later dropped and the winger would join Getafe on loan on deadline day in the summer of 2023. His permanent move to Marseille in 2024 saw United include a substantial sell-on clause in the deal should Marseille choose to sell him in the future.
The 23-year-old scored 21 Ligue 1 goals last season and there was reports that he could be set for a move back to the Premier League. However, a transfer did not materialise and Greenwood looks set to represent Marseille in the Champions League this season.
