Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah questioned UEFA's tribute to the late Suleiman Al-Obeid, known as the "Palestinian Pele," for not referencing the circumstances of his death.

The Palestine Football Association (PFA) stated that Al-Obeid, 41, was killed by an Israeli strike targeting civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip.

UEFA's brief social media post called Al-Obeid "a talent who gave hope to countless children," prompting Salah to ask for details on how, where, and why he died.

The PFA later posted a statement attributed to UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, which praised Al-Obeid's dedication but still did not explicitly mention the cause of his death.

The PFA reported that 325 players, coaches, administrators, referees, and club board members in the Palestinian football community have died since the Israeli-Hamas conflict began in October 2023.
