Red Bull Salzburg’s Mads Bidstrup has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest this summer.
Five days ago, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg reported the Reds have the midfielder in their target list.
On Friday, Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that Nottingham Forest have held initial talks with the Austrian club. He stated they also made contact with the player’s camp.
According to the journalist, the former Brentford man is open to returning to the Premier League in this window. However, Red Bull Salzburg aren’t willing to let him leave for less than his valuation, without mentioning any figures.
Sky Sport Austria had a chat with Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Rouven Schröder regarding the recent rumours of Nottingham Forest’s interest in Bidstrup and Laola1 have relayed by comments.
Responding to that, he said: “…an honour for us. We want to have players in the squad who are sought-after.”
The Dane’s contract is until 2028, and the official insists the clubs aren’t planning to sell him this summer.
“The fans can rest easy. We are absolutely optimistic that Mads will stay with us. We want to be successful, and as captain, Mads is part of that,” Schröder explained.
“He is the flag-bearer of this club. He simply lives and breathes the club and has exactly the character we want. I can’t imagine anything that could make us nervous at the moment.”
The player was also quizzed about the recent reports linking him to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.
“I’m really happy here. I like the city and the club; I really feel at home. …only focused on Salzburg. After that, there are three weeks until the end of the transfer window. We’ll see,” he added.
