Jacob Parrish Continues To Impress
August 10th, 2025
Joe knows a lot of attention has been heaped on rookie cornerback Benjamin Morrison. Joe guesses part of that is because he played for arguably the biggest brand name in college football: Notre Dame.
But the Bucs have a rookie corner drafted in the third round that has been more impressive since the first time Joe saw him in rookie minicamp. That’s Jacob Parrish.
No knock on Morrison who was coming off hip surgery last year. Parrish got a slight jump on him. Now, with Morrison sidelined with a bad hamstring and expected out the rest of preseason, Parrish is easily ahead of Morrison.
Parrish just seems around the ball all the time. Joe would not jump off a ledge if he beat out Zyon McCollum. Joe understands Parrish will likely be the starting nickel corner but the way he constantly makes plays, Joe would love to see the guy on the field full-time.
Last night Parrish had two passes defensed in roughly a quarter and a half of football.
Let’s just say Parrish met Bucs coach Todd Bowles’ standards.
“I thought he did a very good job, especially out at the [cornerback] spot,” Bowles said. “The nickel spot, we had help going inside that he got a leverage out once or twice.
“I thought [Parrish] did a very good job from that standpoint. The preseason is going to be great for him. I look forward to him having a heck of a season this year.”
High praise coming from Bowles.
The only thing Joe didn’t like about Parrish last night was Joe would have pulled him after the first Titans possession. The Bucs don’t need both rookie corners hurt.
Just before the game, it rained heavily. Joe doesn’t know if the wet field led to Rachaad White’s apparent groin injury but given the conditions, it was reckless to have any starter on the field.
Watching Parrish in practice, not only does he always seem to be around the ball, but he gradually just gets better and better.
Joe doesn’t think anyone needs to worry if Parrish can do the job.
