Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Levi Wallace signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, but he never made it to the game.
Wallace suffered an undisclosed injury and was placed on injured reserve by the Jaguars. He can be released from injured reserve with an injury settlement, which would make him a free agent. It is unknown if his injury is truly season-ending.
Wallace’s struggles were on a national stage last season when he failed to contain former Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. Instead, Jeudy went off for a career-high 235 yards, much of which was on Wallace.
Wallace was with the Steelers for two seasons. He started his entire first season with the team, but his play experienced a steep drop-off during his second season. Following that, the team benched him for rookie Joey Porter Jr., who played much better than Wallace or their other veteran starter, Patrick Peterson.
He was undrafted coming out of Alabama and signed with the Buffalo Bills. Wallace started right out of the gate for the Bills, but the team let him walk in free agency after four years.
